Business Insurance
Workers Comp
Required state coverage. 1+ employees for construction, 4+ for non-construction.
Florida law mandates Workers Comp at low employee counts — especially in construction. Even at 1 employee, contractors usually need WC because GCs require a Certificate of Insurance. We do pay-as-you-go billing so cash flow stays manageable.
What's covered
- Medical expenses for work-related injury/illness
- Lost wages (temporary or permanent)
- Rehabilitation
- Death benefits
- Employer liability (Part B)
What's not
- Injuries from intoxication / drug use
- Self-inflicted injuries
- Injuries during commutes (generally)
- Independent contractors (typically)
Florida note
Florida construction industry requires WC at 1+ employees. Non-construction at 4+. Most GCs require WC certificates regardless of headcount. Annual audits adjust premium to actual payroll.
